Beihang International Summer School on Low-Carbon Technologies and Intelligent Energy Systems Successfully Held
The Beihang International Summer School (BISS) on Low-Carbon Technologies and Intelligent Energy Systems, hosted by the International Research Center for Carbon Neutralization (IRCCN) of Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University, concluded its seven-day academic lectures and exchange activities from July 13th to 19th, 2026.. Young scholars from around the world gathered on the Beihang Hangzhou campus to engage in lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities covering clean combustion, energy measurement, advanced sensing, aviation emissions, and related topics. A total of 56 students registered for this summer school, including 53 international students from 15 countries and 23 institutions, as well as 3 students from Beihang University.

The summer school brought together leading international experts in low-carbon and energy research. Prof. Yong Yan, Director and Chief Scientist of the International Research Center for Carbon Neutralization, Beihang University, and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom, delivered the welcome address on Day 1 and presented a keynote on recent advances in energy measurement and carbon metrology on Day 4. Other distinguished speakers included Prof. Adrian Podoleanu (University of Kent, UK; Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom), Prof. Lijun Xu (Beihang University; Distinguished Young Scholar of the NSFC), Assoc. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sven Eckart (TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany; Head of Combustion Technology Section), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pedro David Bravo Mosquera (University of São Paulo, Brazil), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taweechai Ouypornkochagorn (Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand).
Over the seven days, the program systematically covered seven thematic areas: Combustion Diagnostics and Clean Combustion, Energy Measurement and Carbon Metrology, Advanced Sensor Technologies, Hydrogen and Electrochemical Energy, Multiphase Flow and Process Tomography, Aviation Emissions and Environmental Monitoring, and Novel Energy Materials. More than 20 scholars from Beihang and international partner institutions delivered keynote presentations, lectures, and teamworking practice sessions, offering students a comprehensive view of cutting-edge developments in low-carbon technologies and intelligent energy systems.
