Wasif Shafaet Chowdhury 博士后

Dr. Wasif Shafaet Chowdhury completed his PhD from the School of Engineering, University of Kent, U.K., where his research focused on slurry flow measurement using Coriolis flowmeters, integrating analytical and data-driven modelling. His doctoral research was jointly funded by the University of Kent and KROHNE Ltd. He secured additional competitive funding, including the University of Kent VC scholarship to purchase equipment, for slurry flow experiments. His work resulted in multiple first-author peer-reviewed publications, including in IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement (TIM), Cybernetics and Intelligence, and presentations at leading international conferences such as IEEE I2MTC and IMEKO. Alongside his PhD, he worked as an hourly paid lecturer at the University of Kent, teaching modules related to electronic systems, instrumentation, measurements, and computer engineering. He actively contributed to academic activities by organizing Instrumentation and Control group’s research seminars and the CEMS divisional Postgraduate Research Conference (July, 2024) throughout is PhD. He also serves as a regular reviewer for journals including IEEE TIM, IEEE Access, and IET Image Processing.

Prior to his PhD, he received the MSc degree in Advanced Electronic Systems Engineering with Distinction from the School of Engineering, University of Kent. His MSc project was awarded with the Procon Engineering Prize for the Best MSc Project which was later published in I2MTC 2020. Before joining his PhD, he worked as a Lecturer (part-time) at BRAC University, Dhaka, between 2020 - 2021. He is a recipient of the ICT Division Fellowship from the Bangladesh government’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology division to develop an Automatic Number Plate Recognition system for Bangladeshi vehicles, 2018-2019. He holds a BSc degree in Computer Science and Engineering from BRAC University. His research interest includes electronic instrumentation, multiphase flow measurement, machine learning, and image processing.
